Alex is a wonderful baker and thoroughly nice man. We were fortunate to be just around the corner from his boulangerie. We tried almost everything, all of it so delicious. His bread however is among the best we’ve had anyway. A very memorable experience.

For us this one is in the Top 5 Boulangers in the Dordogne ( and we've been testing them for over 10 years now). Fantastic baguette 🥖 and croissants 🥐! Great pastries. And we also loved the deep filled pizza! Go visit the Cedric Grolet of the area👍

A l'unanimité (nous sommes 6), ce jeune boulanger est sympathique et dynamique, et nous sommes très satisfaits. Il fait de très bons pains (pain à l'ail délicieux, tourtes croustillantes et moelleuses) et de très bonnes pâtisseries (excellent cheese cake, tarte aux fraises, tarte au citron meringué... tout était très frais et très bon !).

Unanimously (there are 6 of us), this young baker is friendly and dynamic, and we are very satisfied. He makes very good breads (delicious garlic bread, crispy and soft pies) and very good pastries (excellent cheese cake, strawberry pie, lemon meringue pie... everything was very fresh and very good!).

Wij hadden het geluk in de buurt van Montcabrier te verblijven en troffen La Bastide, op zoek naar een bakker. Wat een wonderbaarlijk brood, van een ambachtsman pur sang, die het brood in zijn eigen houtoven bakt. Een pain tourné, warm uit de oven, zwaar en levend in je hand, is een moment van ontzag. Verrukkelijke croissants, stoere baguettes tradition, heerlijke taartjes.

We were fortunate enough to be staying near Montcabrier and stumbled upon La Bastide while searching for a bakery. What wonderful bread, from a true artisan who bakes it in his own wood-fired oven. A pain tourné, warm from the oven, heavy and lifelike in your hand, is a moment of awe. Delicious croissants, sturdy traditional baguettes, and delightful tarts.

Enfin une boulangerie qui fait du bon pain, et en plus les boulangers sont d'une sympathie exceptionnelle. Tout est bon du croissant au pain à l'ail en passant par leurs baguettes et que dire du pain au châtaigne. Allez y les yeux fermés. Et profitez en pour visiter le petit village de Montcabrier

Pendant nos vacances nous avons pu deguster les delicieux croustillants, croissants, pains au chocolat et le tartelettes citron. Le chausson de pomme est sans doute notre favorit!
